Watch-night Service
One of the Highlights of the Fintry Kirk Year.

This so popular service, by its very nature, must be run simultaneously in Balfron and Fintry Kirk. So we enjoy the Minister on alternate years. In the gap years it is organised by the Session Clerk. Thus in 2014 the Minister will come to us. In 'odd' years the service is lead by members of the congregation.

The formula for Watch-night could not be simpler; prayers, and readings inter-dispersed with all our favourite carols and some new ones too.

There are pre-service mince pies and mulled wine in the Session House. at 11.00 pm.  The service itself starts in Fintry Kirk at 11.30.

Our Kirk is never more beautiful. It's warm and cosy and safe against dark night outside. The stained glass is illuminated wondrously, and very differently from how we normally see it. There are candles on the window ledges and a tree decked with lights; and people. Individuals, complete families often joyously swelled with folk returning to the parental home for Christmas, while others bring their house guests. It's wonderful throng.

Whilst folk are so happy and the occasion so enjoyable, there is no better way, in these overly commercial times, to remember and celebrate what Christmas is really all about.

He came for everyone, including you and me.

Join us and know that you are welcome.
